"Working, Praying, Sharing and Learning Together"
"Gweithio, Gweddiwn, Rhannu, a Ddysgu gyda'n Gilydd"
At St. Mary’s R.C. Primary School we work, pray, share and learn together in a supportive environment in partnership with parents and parish to ensure that each child develops academically, spiritually, physically and socially. Children are valued as individuals who are made in the image and likeness of God and encouraged to strive for self-improvement whilst remaining sensitive to the needs of others.
At St Mary’s R.C. Primary we,
Recognise that children succeed best in an atmosphere where they work, pray, share and learn together with the example of Christ at its centre.
Welcome and cares for everyone, promoting strong links with and supported by home, parish and community.
Celebrate our achievements in all activities and recognise and rejoice in the talents of others.
Respect the uniqueness of each individual and cater for their particular needs.
We aim to:
To create a caring Catholic Community in which the Catholic Faith is put into daily practice and in which Catholic Doctrine and Principles are explored.
To deliver a relevant, differentiated and stimulating curriculum which offers equal opportunity for self improvement through raising standards allowing all to succeed.
To involve both the parents and the parish in the education of the children.
To foster positive attitudes to learning and self-development and to encourage high expectations.
To develop concerns for all and an understanding of how an individuals actions affect others.
To promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
To work with St Albans R.C. High, Blessed Carlo Acutis School and Brynmawr Foundation Schools to ensure that the children are well prepared to continue on their learning journey.
Our Virtues and Values
As a Catholic School in the Archdiocese of Cardiff-Menevia, we have embraced the Catholic Schools’ Pupil Profile, which teaches children a set of eight pairs of virtues to be internalised and cultivated - enabling them to grow in wholeness as fully rounded individuals in the image of God.
The pairs of virtues are:
At St Mary's our pupils are growing to be:
Grateful for their own gifts, for the gift of other people, and for the blessings of each day; and generous with their gifts, becoming men and women for others.
Attentive to their experience and to their vocation; and discerning about the choices they make and the effects of those choices.
Compassionate towards others, near and far, especially the less fortunate; and loving by their just actions and forgiving words.
Faith-filled in their beliefs and hopeful for the future.
Eloquent and truthful in what they say of themselves, the relations between people, and the world.
Learned, finding God in all things; and wise in the ways they use their learning for the common good.
Curious about everything; and active in their engagement with the world, changing what they can for the better.
Intentional in the way they live and use the resources of the earth, guided by conscience; and prophetic in the example they set to others.
