Planet Protectors

Our school promotes a more sustainable future, which led us to create the pupil voice group “The Planet Protectors”. The planet protectors have been established for four years and have made a significant impact to our school and the wider community.

Our biggest achievement to date is achieving green flag status in the summer of 2024. This year we have been working with Rich Cartland and the Keep Wales Tidy Team which has resulted in us attaining the outdoor development grant. Throughout this project we have collaborated with the Church, parish and the wider community which includes all our other pupil voice groups such as Minnie Vinnies, Criw Cymraeg and Healthy schools. As we work through our action plan we are also working towards creating a litter-free zone in school and our local area, this is a commendable goal that fosters a cleaner, healthier, and more pleasant environment for everyone.

It involves a collective effort from pupils and staff to ensure that waste is properly disposed of and recycling is encouraged. Initiatives such as organizing regular clean-up drives, placing more waste bins around the school, and educating the school community about the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling can make a significant impact. Additionally, incorporating environmental awareness into the curriculum can help instil a sense of responsibility and pride in maintaining a clean school environment. By working together towards this goal, the school can set a positive example and contribute to a more sustainable future.
